Abstract (EN)

Guillain Barre Syndrome is an inflammatory disease of central and peripheral nervous system. It's clinical course is variable, etiology is known. However the pathogenesis of syndrome remains unclear. There is no estabilished biochemical parameter yet to diagnose and detect it's severity. In this study, we aim to show whether the ratio of neuthrophil/lymphocyte (NLR) and ratio of thrombocyte/ lymphocyte (TLR) is a parameter associated with the severity of this syndrome. MATERIAL AND METHOD From 2009 to 2016, 27 patients (16 male, 11 female) with GBS were involved in this study who referred to Pediatric Neurology department of Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine. The documents about patients which include medical reports and records were examined on admission to hospital and on dischargement. The ratio of neuhtrophil/lymphocyte (NLR) and thrombocyte/lymphocyte (TLR) were analyzed. RESULTS Twenty seven patients (59,3 % were male, 40,7 % were female) were involved in our study. There were no statistically significant diffarence between genders (p>0,05). The NLR value measured before and after the treatment. The mean of NLR value, before and after treatment , was 3,2619±4,24195 and 1,3637±0,71355 respectively. As seen above, NLR value was significantly higher before the treatment. The TLR value was also examined before and after the treatment. Before and after the treatment mean value of TLR was 126,5281±53,24868 and 127,2259±58,66141 respectively. Namely, there were no statistically significant diffarence in TLR value in respect of treatment of GBS. Pre-treatment and post-treatment NLR values were compered between mild and severe GBS study groups. There was no statistically significant diffarence in before (p=0,482) and after (p=0,512) treatment NLR values between mild and severe GBS groups. Pre-treatment and post-treatment TLR values were compered between mild and severe GBS study groups. There was no statistically significant diffarence in before (p=0,332) and after (p=0,159) treatment TLR values between mild and severe GBS groups. CONCLUSION In our study, avarage NLR value was significantly higher in GBS patients. However, we could not show on association between NLR and the severity or prognosis of GBS. Also in over study, there were no significant increase in the value of TLR in GBS patients.
