Morality and religion in Nurettin Topçu

This study, named ?Morality and Religion in Nurettin Topçu?, one of the most important and outstanding figure of world of thought in the Republic Period, aims to introduce his approach to moral issues and religion?s relation to morality, based on his own system of thought.This thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter of the study includes Nurettin Topçu?s story of life being the focal point of this study, his well-known works, various figures and cases shaping his world of ideas.The second chapter of the study, as a preparation for the third part, examines morality in philosophy, the process by which morality comes into being and the parts of morality.The third and last chapter argues various problems having an utmost importance in Nurettin Topçu?s ideas such as religion and morality, moral liberty and its cues, moral determinism and its cues, relation between religion and conscience, the effect of religion and morality on community life and ethics of uprising.At the end of the study, it has been found out that the philosopher has an original point of view on religion and morality.Keywords: Morality, Religion, Nurettin Topçu, Ethics of revolt, Philosophy
