Abstract (EN)
Objective: The aim of this research is to adapt bariatric surgery-specific "The Moorehead-Ardelt Quality of Life Questionnaire" to Turkish and determine validity and reliability. Method: The research was conducted in general surgery departments of Akdeniz University and Antalya Education and Research Hospital and Nobezite Clinic of Assoc. Prof. Ayhan Mesci between February-July 2017. The sample of the research included 185 voluntary patients aged 18 through 65 years with adequate self-expression who are preparing for the bariatric surgery or had the surgery at least three months ago. Patient Introductory Information Form, Moorehead-Ardelt Quality of Life Questionnaire II and 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) were used as data collection tools. The data were analyzed in IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0 and ve SAS 9.4 through calculating number, percent, average, standard deviation, chi-square, content validity, confirmatory and explanatory factor analysis, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, multivariate linear regression and Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Results: Item-content index for relevance of content and language/expression was found 0.91, content index of the scale was found 0.93 and content index for the content relevance was found 0.96. Degree of freedom was found 9, p-value was found 0.1162, χ2/df=1.58, RMSEA=0.0587, SRMR=0.0355, NFI=0.9595, NNFI=0.9743, CFI=0.9848, GFI=0.9711 and AGFI was found 0.9326 as a result of confirmatory factor analysis and the scale verified the original factor structure as a six-item. Factor loads of the items changed between 0.61-0.80 and it was found that the scale explained 55.63% of the requested variance. Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the Turkish adapted Moorehead-Ardelt Quality of Life Questionnaire II was found 0.83. Conclusion: In conclusion, Turkish edition of the "Moorehead-Ardelt Quality of Life Questionnaire II" was determined to be a valid and reliable tool for the patients at the pre/post bariatric surgery period.
