Anterior cingulat cortex and caudat nucleus volumes in patient with obsessive-compulsive personality disorder

Our study is the first one which evaluated volumetric meaurements of anterior cingulat cortex and caudat nucleus in patients with obsessive compulsive personality disorder (OCPD). In this study, ıt was aimed to investigate the volume changes of anterior cingulat cortex and caudat nucleus in order to better understand the etiopathogenesis of obsessive compulsive personality disorder. During the study, 16 patients who applied for The Department of Psychiatry at the Hospital of Fırat University and who received inpatient or outpatient treatment and diagnosed as obsessive compulsive personality disorder according to DSM-IV-TR diagnostic criteria and who met the study criteria and 18 healthy control groups were included in the study.The patients were administered the sociodemographical data form, the Beck Anxiety Scale, the Beck Depression Scale, the Frost Multi-dimensional Perfectionism Scale, SCID I and II. Right and left anterior cingulat cortex and caudat nucleus volumetric measurements were performed in the patient and control group using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In our study; there were no differences between the patients and healthy controls for anterior cingulate cortex and caudat nucleus volumes. When the sociodemographic characteristics were compared, the results obtained were in accordance with the literatüre. When we compared the scale scores with the volumetric measurements, there were no any statistically significant difference. As a result, our investigation did not demonstrate any statistically significant differences for anterior cingulat cortex and caudat nucleus in OCPD pathophysiology. It is thought that the studies that are carried out together with the imaging techniques that overlook the functional properties of these regions and the cognitive function tests will give more efficient results.
