Abstract (EN)
In the world, international trade gains momentum with globalization and becomes an environment where competition increases. With the development of technology, rapid changes are experienced in the market. Industrialized and developing countries within economic institutions such as OECD and G20 aim at sustainable growth, economic development and people's well-being. In this direction, industrialized and developing countries need to keep up with these changes in order to keep their positions strong in the global market. It can be experienced in extraordinary situations that affect the commercial relations of countries with each other. Extraordinary situations can sometimes be diplomatic, sometimes slow, and sometimes epidemics. One of these extraordinary situations is the Covid-19 pandemic, which affected the whole world at the end of 2019, forced countries to close their borders, and caused imports and exports to be disrupted as production came to a standstill. In this study, in order to see the economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic period of the OECD member G20 countries, the macroeconomic performances of 2019-2020 are determined and ranked. A total of eleven countries are included in the OECD, namely the USA, Germany, Australia, United Kingdom, France, South Korea, Italy, Japan, Canada, Mexico and Turkey, which are G20 member countries. The study includes the five most preferred macroeconomic variables in macroeconomic performance studies. These five macroeconomic variables are growth rate, inflation rate, unemployment rate, exports and imports. The data of the variables are taken from OECD, World Bank and IMF. TOPSIS and VIKOR, which are multi-criteria decision-making methods that facilitate the decision-making process, are preferred for the macroeconomic performance ranking of the countries. The results obtained by applying TOPSIS and VIKOR are analyzed as performance rankings before and after the Covid-19 pandemic, and are compared between the two methods.
