Teacher? views about the levels of fulfillment of learning attaintment on the critical and creative skills on life science lesson

The object of this study is to specify the learning attainment level of critical and creative thinking skills of 1st, 2nd and 3th grade students of primary education in Life Science. In order to determine the critical and creative thinking skills in Life Science, the opinions of teachers have been consulted to and these opinions have been examined. The universe of the study is constituted by 595 teachers teaching at 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades in the academic year of 2009 ? 2010 in official primary schools at the center of Elazığ province. The data obtained from the surveys applied to these teachers have been analyzed by way of using frequency, percentage, average, t test and variance analysis with the help of SPSS program. As a result of the study, it has been observed that the teachers have positive opinions as to the acquisition of critical and creative thinking skills.A meaningful difference has been detected among the results by education regions for 3rd grade learning attainments of critical thinking; results by sex for 1st grade learning attainments of creative thinking and results by education regions for 3rd grade learning attainments of creative thinking. Since giving more place to drama and group studies which have a positive influence on the critical and creative thinking skills will increase the realization levels of learning attainments and will ensure that these learning attainments are permanent, it has been recommended that the teachers give allocate more time to drama and group studies in the activities within the course. Furthermore, since the positive attitudes and supports of families towards the students have a great influence over their success, it has been underlined that the families and the school should cooperate and act in coordination.
