An education programme for candidate teachers to enhance the information, ability and attitudes related to problematic behavior that occurred in schools.

The aim of this research is, to enhance the information ability, and attitudes related to problematic behaviour, and therefore; to observe the effects of the programme about these problematic behaviours, abilities and attitudes on the candidate teachers.In the research, pre-test and final test control grouped experiment designed is used. The research?s work group was formed from 9 Eylül University year 2008-2009 senior class students. Fifty four of these students participated this research on voluntarily. To these candidate teachers, within the context of pre-test, tobacco, alcohol, and drug use information scale, as well as, adolescent suicide behaviour scale was applied. Then these candidates impartially were divided into two groups, as one control group and one experiment group. Whilst a seven week programme was being applied to experiment group, nothing was applied to control group. To observe the effect of the educational programme on experiment group, a month later, another monitoring was done to experiment group.For the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics, Mann Whitney U test and Wilcoxon matched-pairs signed ranks tests were used.Research results have shown that, the education programme, drastically affected the awareness of the candidate teachers towards tobacco, alcohol and drug use, compeer abuse and adolescent suicide. Moreover, it is also observed that, the effect of the programme went on after a month the work had been completed.Key Words: Candidate teachers, tobacco, alcohol and drug use, compeer bullying, suicide.
