Examination of sustainable development awareness of teacher candidates

In this study, it is aimed awareness of sustainable development of teacher candidates. It is used relational survey model. Study is realized on Fırat University Education Faculty in 2019-2020 Academic Year. Group of this study is created by science teachers who study in first, second, third, fourth class, 151 social studies, 183 classroom teacher and 135 pre-school teacher with total 570 teacher candidates. Datas of study is collected by using Sustainable Development Awareness Scale by Atmaca, Kıray and Pehlivan. At the analysis of datas is used SPSS 22 package. In order to examine search questions is made descriptive, statistic, one-factor analysis of variance (ANOVA), unpaired test and Mann Whitney U-Test. According to results of the analysis, it is determined that sustainable development awareness of teacher candidates who are four different department is high. It is determined that averages of teacher candidates science, social studies and preschool is higher than candidates of classroom teacher. In order to confirm, whether there is a meaningful difference is realized ANOVA analysis. It is reached that only points of Social Teacher Candidates become distinct in class level. It is determined that points of sustainable development awareness is meaningful for female class teachers. By gender, in the points of lower dimension of sustainable development awareness at average of science and preschool teacher candidates wasn't found a meaningful difference but it is realized that a meaningful difference at lower dimension of society and environment for classroom teacher. As for social teacher candidates, it is determined that a meaningful difference only at dimension of society. It is reached that scale is used by teacher candidates who are different grade level averages of economy, society and environment is high. Teacher candidates in different departments points of sustainable development awareness is meaningless for class and preschool teacher candidates, but it is meaningful at economy size for science teacher candidates and it is meaningful at all sub-dimension for social studies teacher candidates.
