The factors wich motivate teachers to become manager

A lot of people working for institution, factory or company want to change their duties because of different reasons. They would like to make this change of duty by rising thorough the ranks.Rising to a higher position , to inspect and manage is always found attractive by people. On being researched of its reasons, what we firstly come to our mind are the person's monetary situtation changes prosperously ,person has an impressive career, is treated with respect, gives order without taking orders, becomes happy to have a suitable job for his/her self, like these many reasons can be followed. Also many teachers and personnels working at schools dependent on the Ministry of Education aim to be manager. But teachers have not several advantages over management as in the private sector . In spite of this table, a good many teachers wish and strive for management in schools. This research was made to determine the incentives for teachers in the schools dependent on the Ministry of Education and in the schools for Special Education Needs to be manager. The creation of the research, in 2006-2007 Education Year, has consisted of the teachers study for a master's degree in school management and inspection at the Institution of Social Sciences of Yeditepe Universty in Istanbul and the teachers from general high school, vocational high school and primary schools in Pendik, Maltepe, Kartal in Istanbul.The illustration of the research has consisted of 250 teachers ,100 (%40) of whom are from general high school, vocational high school and primary schools in Pendik ,Kartal, Maltepe in Istanbul and 150 (%60) of whom study for a master's degree in school management and inspection at the Institution of Social Sciences of Yeditepe University in Istanbul. The programme of SPSS Statics is used for the analysis of the data got from the questionnaire.In the process of analysing the data frequency as N, percent as%, average as X, standard devination as Ss are shown.T - test is taken for the variable gender. The one-way variance (ANOVA) analyze was used for determinig if there are differences between the variable groups about teacher branche, the duration of career ,the duration of being at the school,the type of schooland about having an education of being manager. As a result of evalvation of data, it is seen that there have been meaningful relationships between the opinions of the subject groups and impacts which motivate teachers to become administrators.In the light of these findings suggestions have been impoved.Keywords: Administrator, School Administration, Motivation
