Measurement of Teachers? perception on Malcolm Baldrige model of excellence

Quality becomes more of an issue day by day and there are many typesof quality awards throughout the world. The main idea is to identify the bestinstitutions in each sector and make them serve as a model for rivals. In thisrespect, Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Awards are a world wide known,prestigious award system not only for manufacturing sector but also for healthand education sector.In this day and age, there is more competition among educationinstitutions. Education is one of the most important services of a countrybecause a quality society grounds from a quality education. At this point,Malcolm Baldrige Education Criterias establish an efficient framework tomeasure the quality of education institutions.While the teachers are primary implementors of quality in education, thepurpose of this study is to determine their viewpoints and perceptions forMalcolm Baldrige Education Criterias.According to the findings of this research, there are 6 prominent pointsamong these criterias which are Leaders, Parent and Student Orientation,Process Management, Teacher Orientation, Strategic Planning, and Results.Studies for quality seem meaningless for most of the teachers. From their point of view, school?s quality is due to Parent and Student Orientation, ProcessManagement, and their Results; but perfection of the school is related only withParent and Student Orientation. On the other hand majority of teachersindicates that a teacher oriented approach shall motivate them better in theirwork.Key Words: Malcolm Baldrige Education Criterias, Quality, Education, Self-assessment, Excellence Models
