Analysing the persons serious leisure who attend archery sport

Although the researches carried out in the field of serious and casual leisure time have a recent agenda in Turkey; in fact, they have had background that is rich with the ethnographic studies. Robert Stebbins has described the serious leisure time as "the period that is spent to follow the activity- which has been chosen to have a career in a field that requires special knowledge, skill and experience, quite significant, interesting and which is related to activities which is amateur, hobby or satisfying voluntary- by participating systematically". The number of the researches which have been carried out in the field of serious and casual leisure time in Turkey has started to increase since the fact that the number of the researches and analyzing was insufficient was realized. Therefore, in this study, it is intended to contribute to studies that carried out in this field and to obtain new information by analyzing the phenomenon of serious leisure time in the branch of archery. With regards to aim, this study is descriptive, with respect to time of being applied is cross sectional and with regards to data acquisition, it is a survey study. The research has been designed with survey model. The universe of this thesis study consists of sportsmen interested in the field of archery at a level of competition in our country and taking part in local, national and international competitions. A survey form that consists of two sections has been utilized as a data acquisition tool. In the first section, there are questions with which the information in respect of demographic background of the participants and the way of joining and frequency of their participation in the archery sport have been examined. In the second section of the survey form, consisting of 42 items 5 ranges likert scale, "Serious and Casual Leisure Time Scale" designed by Akyıldız (2013), determined its reliability and validation with the sense of convenience to Turkish Culture via the studies, has been utilized. The total reliability of the scale was calculated as .95. For the statistical analysis, descriptive statistics, frequency distributions, students t-test, multivariable variance analysis and correlation analysis was utilized. As a result of the study; When the correlation between the duration of participation in the archery branch and the severity of the leisure time scale and its sub-dimensions and the perceived freedom levels, the mean total time of attendance and serious leisure time scale (r = 0.138, p <0.05), leisure time (r = 0.214, p < There were positive correlations between the subscales of 0.05) and perseverance (r = 0.271, p <0.05). In the third part of the questionnaire, the en Freedom Perceived Freedom Scale (SZAI) en, which was developed by Witt and Ellis (1985), was adapted to Turkish by Yerlisu Lapa and Agyar (2011) and then tested the construct validity by Yerlisu Lapa and Agyar (2017) data collection tool. The original scale consists of 25 items and one factor. The participants' scores of the serious leisure time scale and the sub-dimensions and the levels of perceived freedom were compared according to the type of spring they used and according to the participants, the severity of the leisure time scale among the participants using recurve bow, from the leisure time career, psycho-social benefit, therapeutic benefit and social world sub-dimensions. they obtained high mean scores (p <0.05). Participants' serious leisure time and sub-dimension scores and perceived freedom levels were compared according to weekly training time. According to the scores of the participants in the serious leisure time scale, leisure time, perseverance, people who participate more frequently in terms of personal effort, they feel that they have developed and succeeded in archery as a leisure career.
