Özet (EN)

Aim: The utilization of three-dimensional (3D) echocardiography aids calculation of left ventricular end-systolic volume (ESV), end-diastolic volume (EDV), and ejection fraction (EF) more reliably without requirement of geometrical assumptions. There is not enough information regarding the 3D volumes and EF in the ever-increasing octogenarian population. We planned to compare the 3D volumes and EF with 2-dimensional volumes and EF in this population. Study Design: We included 40 healthy octogenarian subjects (21 female, 19 male) who underwent echocardiography between 2016 and 2017 in our hospital. The stored data of these subjects were analyzed offline with Q-Lab software (Philips Medical Systems). We measured left ventricular EDV, left ventricular ESV, and EF both using Modified Simpson and 3D volumetric methods. Results: We measured end-diastolic volumes as 77.7±16.9 ml and 79,1±19.1 ml (p<0.001), end-systolic volumes as 27.2±7,0 ml, 34.0±8.3 ml (p<0.001), and EF as 61.9%±5.0, 56.7%±4.7 (p<0.001) using 2-dimensional and 3D echocardiography, respectively. Conclusion: We measured 3D volumes and EF in 40 healthy octogenarian subjects. 3D volumes were significantly larger and EF was lower compared to volumes, and EF by modified Simpson method.
