Abstract (EN)

This research aims to examine the sports commitment and athlete self-efficacy of high school students who participate in in-school sports activities. The study is in the relational survey model, which is one of the descriptive survey models, as it aims to determine the current situation and to determine the existence of the change between the two scale scores. The sample group of the study consists of a total of 382 students attending in-school sports activities in high schools affiliated to public schools. In the data collection process of the research, the Athlete Self-Efficacy Scale developed by Koçak (2020) and the Sports Commitment Scale developed by Sırgancı (2019) were used to determine the sports commitment and athlete self-efficacy of the students participating in in-school sports activities. Student t test; One-Way Analysis of Variance and Tukey's multiple comparison test; The relationship between the participants' total scores obtained from the sports commitment and athlete's self-efficacy scales was evaluated with the Pearson correlation coefficient. SPSS 21.0 V. statistical package program was used in all statistical calculations. In the study, it was determined that there was a significant difference between the total score of commitment to sports and the total scores of the sub-dimension (except for the sub-dimension of fitness) of male and female individuals. In addition, it was concluded that the individuals who do sports professionally have higher athlete self-efficacy total and sub-dimension total scores than individuals who do sports as amateurs. In the study, a significant difference was found between the total score of commitment to sports and the total scores of sub-dimensions of individuals according to income level. As a result, a positive and significant relationship was determined between the total scores of sports commitment and athlete self-efficacy of individuals who participated in in-school sportive activities. The earlier a person's talents are discovered and directed to related branches, the better their self-efficacy level and their commitment to sports will be at that level. The primary duty for the formation of sports awareness of individuals falls on families. Afterwards, physical education teachers and trainers should be provided with planning and orientation in line with the abilities of the individuals.
