Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research: to examine the values in preschool children in the context of parent and teacher opinions and school documents. Since quantitative and qualitative methods were used together within the scope of the research, a simultaneous mixed design was used from mixed research methods. The screening model was used in the quantitative dimension of the research, and the phenomenological design was used in the qualitative dimension. The quantitative sample of the research consists of parents and teachers of children aged 3-6 who continue preschool education in the province of Van in the 2022-2023 academic year, determined by the easily accessible case sampling method. The research was conducted with parents and teachers of 570 children receiving education in kindergartens within six primary schools and three private schools, and four independent kindergartens. The qualitative sample of the research consists of 10 preschool teachers working in institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, using maximum variation sampling. Another group in the sample of the study consists of school and classroom bulletin boards, school walls and teaching materials in the kindergarten classes of six primary schools and three private schools and in the classrooms of four independent kindergartens. SPSS 22.0 package program was used to analyze quantitative data. Independent Sample t Test and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were used to analyze quantitative data. Content analysis method was preferred in the analysis of qualitative data. When the quantitative findings obtained as a result of the study were examined, it was determined that the values of preschool children in the context of parents' opinions were; mother's working status, internet access at home, reading books with the child and school type, while gender and own room status were not significant variables. In terms of teachers' views, while gender, mother's employment status, internet access at home and school type were significant variables in the values of preschool children, it was observed that the room of one's own and reading books with the child were not significant variables. When the results obtained from the qualitative findings of the research were examined, it was determined that the views expressed by the participants were generally gathered under six headings as; value elements in teaching tools, priority values, value elements in materials, teacher element in value education, family element in value education and school element in value education. Keywords: Pre-school, Values Education, Values, Mixed Design.
