Examining the relationship between the attachment styles, self-esteem and child rearing styles of the mothers of children attending pre-school education

Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between attachment styles, child-rearing attitudes and self-esteem of mothers who have children in preschool period, to investigate the relationship between variables and to examine whether the mother's child-rearing attitude differs according to demographic characteristics. The sample of the study consists of 238 mothers who have children in pre-school period. In this study, the data were obtained by "Socio-Demographic Information Form", "Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale", "Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory II" and "Child Rearing Attitudes Scale". Participants in the research have accessed via the internet. It was observed that as the level of avoidant attachment increased, democratic attitudes decreased, while authoritarian attitudes and overly tolerant attitudes increased. It was observed that as the level of anxious attachment increased, democratic attitudes decreased, while authoritarian attitudes, protective attitudes and overly tolerant attitudes increased. It was observed that as the level of avoidant and anxious attachment increased, self-esteem decreased. It has been determined that as the authoritarian attitude increases, self-esteem decreases. The results of the study were discussed within the framework of the relevant literature and suggestions were given for future studies.
