Pre-school teacher candidates investigation of ecological footwear and environmental education points for environmental education

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of ecological footprint applicationsused as environmental education tool in the determination of the awareness of preschool teacher candidatess for sustainable living. Scan model wasused in this study. Research, in 2015-2016 academic year has been applied to a total of 124 preschool education teacher candidates studying Ahi Evran University Faculty of Education Department of Primary Education Preschool Education. In the research, "Environmental Education Survey" and "Ecological Footprint Measurement Scale" were used as data collection tools. The Ecological Footprintof pre-service teachers were calculated, using web-based Ecological Footprint Calculator. SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences Program, Version 15.0) package program and Microsoft Excel electronic table programs were used to analyze the data collected from the research. In the analyzing of statistical data, correlation method and paired samples t-Test, One Way Anova were used. Following results are obtained from analyzes: As a result ecological footprint application of the awareness of teacher candidates for sustainable living as environmental education tool, the result occuring Turkey's ecological footprint report has been seen lower than average ecologica footprint. This result, the awareness of teacher candidates for sustainable living, according to average in the result of ecological footprint applications as environmental education tool shows that the yâre more conscious. In ecological footprint calculation result it has been seen that the teacher candidates contribute most in good sand services area but at least in travelling area. Significant differences also has been found in terms of gender in ecological footprint scores. Female teacher candidates' footprints in the world are less than males. At the end of the research, some suggestions were made concerning the application of ecological footprint education in larger groups and different variable storaising the awareness of the society in the subjects of environment and sustainablelife.
