Okul Öncesi Öğretmenlerinin Akademik İyimserlik Düzeyleri Öğrenci Kontrol İdeolojilerinin İncelenmesi

Nowadays, education programs in pre-school education effects children’s future a lot. Pre-school teachers’ love and respect towards children and having a learner centered education system is very important. Children need to learn in a system that they learn by experimenting and living. Optimistic teachers should have a positive attitude towards all the children in any case and circumstances. They should have positive behavior in every situation. Optimistic teachers’ educational knowledge, beliefs and educational targets can be explained in three ways. Academic emphasis, teacher’s sense of efficacy and teacher trust are the parts of academic optimism. Teachers’ level of academic optimism effects not only children’s attitudes and behaviour but also their own pupil control ideology. Pupil control ideology can be devided into two as humanistic and custodial ideologies. Both ideologies have very important effects on children. This study is done in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the study group of teachers were 209 pre-school teachers. It aims to find out the level of these teachers’ academic optimism and pupil control ideologies. It also aims to understand if other variables have an effect on these levels. Pupil control ideology scale, which was developed by Willower, Eidell and Hoy (1967) and adapted to Turkish by Yılmaz (2006) and Schools Academic Optimism Scale that was adapted to Turkish by Çoban and Demirtaş (2011) are used in this study to collect data. It was found out that variables like age, the university and faculty graduated from, numbers of years of experience and the number of classes and the number of students in each class of the school have effects on teachers’ level of academic optimism. There are also differences in pupil control ideologies depending on the types of the schools these teachers are working for.
