Examining preschool teachers' attitudes towards the profession and program evaluation skills

The purpose of this research is to examine "Preschool Teachers' Attitudes towards the Profession and their Program Evaluation Skills". Relational screening model was used in the research. The study group of the research consists of 278 pre-school teachers working in official kindergartens and independent kindergartens affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Burdur province, district, town and villages. The data of the research were collected with the "Personal Information Form", "Teachers' Attitude Scale towards Teaching Profession" and "Preschool Education Program Quality Evaluation Scale" developed by the researcher. In the study, it was concluded that the attitudes of preschool teachers towards the teaching profession and their level of curriculum evaluation skills are high. It has been determined that there is a significant difference in the attitude towards the teaching profession according to age, in the sub-dimensions of "valuing, indifference, openness to professional development, and the scale, at 40 years and over. While there was a significant difference in the "indifference" sub-dimension of the metropolitan/city variable from the cities where the teachers grew up, there was no significant difference in the scale. In favor of General/ Imam Hatip/ Other High Schools and Vocational and Technical High Schools from the high schools from which the teachers graduated; Among the faculties from which he graduated, it was found that there was a significant difference in favor of the Faculty of Open Education and Distance Education, which is the sub-dimension of attitudes towards the profession, "valuation, professional burnout, indifference sub-dimensions and overall scale". While a significant difference was found in the sub-dimension of "indifference" in favor of independent kindergartens in the institutions where teachers work, no significant difference was determined in "valuation, professional burnout, openness to professional development and overall scale". In favor of the city center in the settlement where the teachers work; A significant difference was found across the scale in the preference of "it is my ideal profession and I do not like children very much" among the reasons for choosing the teaching profession. Teachers' service period of 16 years or more in the preschool education program quality evaluation scale; It was found that there was a significant difference in favor of independent kindergartens and 20-29 age groups. In terms of the gender variable in the study, gender comparison could not be made due to the low number of male teachers. Studies with large samples can be conducted to make gender comparisons.
