Levels of students, are in second year in primary schools, acquiring reading skill through analysis method on understanding whatever read, reading speed and accuracy on reading

In this study, it was purposed to determine levels of students acquiringreading skill through analysis method on understanding whatever read, reading speedand accuracy on reading. Furthermore it has been introduced whether level ofreading skill of the students changes according to sex, educational and income statusof the family.Sampling of the research is consisted of 150 second year students in primaryschools located in central district of Bolu in 2005-2006 educational year.Data regarding the problem of the research have been obtained from test forunderstanding whatever read which was improved for points of student forunderstanding whatever read; observation form aimed to determine accuracy levelson reading; reading speed test and the form prepared to get information regarding thesocio-economical conditions of the family.Anova test was used for arithmetical average, frequency and percentagemethods to determine the levels and to introduce whether reading skill level changesaccording to sex, educational and income situation of the family in analyzing the datain the research.According to the findings obtained from the research; it was found that levelsof the students who gained reading skill through analyzing method on understandingwhatever read is on average level; however their reading speed and accurate readinglevels is below the middle level. Level of the students for reading skill does notchange according to educational level of the parents or income situation of thefamily.Key Words: Analysis method, understanding whatever read, Accuracy onreading and reading speed.
