Özet (EN)

In this thesis, the aim is to experiment with a potential cure for the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) on rabbits by using carbon fibre and supramid fibre and to evaluate clinical and radiological results to determine whether this material can be a new alternative in curing ACL ruptures or not. Twenty New Zeland rabbits with different weights and genders are used in this study. An ACL is removed by parapatellar incision under anesthesia. The tunnel that is going to the surface of the tibia medial side of it has been opened with a drill. The second tunnel which is going inside the femur lateral kondilus has been opened in the direction of the sticking point of the ACL. Carbon fibre and supramid have been put in the way that is going to the surface of lateral from medial side of tibia, And then an acrylic disk has been put into the medial side of the tibia. Postoperative care has been applied after we put in an acrylic disk. Experimental rabbits have been supervised for 6 months clinical and radiological examinations have been applied. Their X-Ray images has been taken on the 15th, 30th, 45th, 60th, 75th, 90th, 105th, 120th, 135th, 150th, 165th, 180th days. According to these results, it is concluded that legs which are used carbon fibre have more movement capabilities than legs which are used supramid fibre. As a conclusion, it is more appropriate to use carbon fibre in the curing of ACL breaks in rabbits. Key Words: Rabbit, anterior cruciate ligament, intraarticular stabilization, synthetic graft
