The study into adolescents' conditions of perceived soci̇al support and peer bullyi̇ng in district of akkuş, ci̇ty of Ordu

Objective: The study was conducted in a descriptive way so as to determine the effects of adolescents' socio-demographic features on exposure to peer bullying and performing of peer bullying, and to examine the relationship between the perceived level of social support with exposure to peer bullying and performing of peer bullying. Method: The study was conducted with a total of 747 students being educated in 4 high schools in the district of Akkuş, city of Ordu. This is a descriptive study that the data of the study was collected through the help of "Multi Dimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support", "Determination scale of Adolescent [peer] Bullying", and "Personal Information Form". Necessary approvals of institutions and research ethics committee were received. Findings: The mean age of the students of this study was 16,6 (±1,20) years old. The % 30.8 percente of the students was 16 years old. And the % 52.1 percente of students were male. In the study, a significant difference was detected between the average scores taken from the scale of exposure and performing of peer bullying and the adolescents' gender, type of school, economic condition of family, togetherness of mother and father, loving school, preferred computer game, and scool success. A negative significant relationship was found between the scale scores of perceived social support and exposure to peer bullying (r=,206; p=0.000) and performing peer bullying (r=,129; p=0.000). Result: It was found out that; the more the perceived social support level increases, the more the levels of exposure to and performing of peer bullying decreases.
