Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to reveal the views of academics on organizational silence and exclusion as one of the events that occur in higher education institutions. This study aims to reveal the views of academics working in higher education institutions on organizational silence and exclusion that they have experienced or experienced, their solution suggestions and the consequences that these problems may cause and to find possible solutions. The research was conducted within the framework of qualitative research. The phenomenology design, which is one of the qualitative research designs, was utilized in the study. The study group was selected by purposive sampling method. The study group of the research was carried out with a total of 14 academicians working in a higher education institution in the central district of Amasya province and their branches; physical education and sports, educational sciences, English language and education, mathematics education, pre-school education, social sciences education, Turkish education. A semi-structured interview form consisting of 12 open-ended questions was used as a data collection tool. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with each of the participants at their own convenience for an average of 45-60 minutes. The data obtained from the participants were then analyzed descriptively. When the data were analyzed as a result of the research, the participants expressed the concept of organizational silence as not producing ideas for the benefit of the organization, avoiding management pressure, withdrawal within the organization, focusing only on work, lack of communication within the organization and unresponsiveness to organizational events. As a result of the research, the participants expressed their opinions on the solution suggestions for organizational silence as follows: a democratic organizational environment should be provided, a fair leadership style should be adopted, healthy communication environments should be provided to employees, there should be a management and working environment open to criticism, complaints should be examined with importance, professional support should be obtained and it should be included in Higher Education Programs. The academics participating v in the research expressed the concept of exclusion as deliberate exclusion from the group, isolation, not belonging, marginalization, ignoring and disrespect. As a result of the research, academics suggested solutions to the problem of organizational exclusion as follows: there should be a democratic leader and management, different organizational-based strategies, a critical organizational environment should be established, awareness should be created, leaders should be trained, organizational and individual rights should be protected with strict rules, nepotism and self-interest should be prevented, and tasks within the organization should be rotated frequently.
