The effect of the case study method on the attitudes of the 4th grade students to the value of helpfulness

In this study, the effect of case study method on the attitudes of 4th grade students towards the value of helpfulness was investigated, the student's views on the value of helpfulness and value education were tried to be determined. The Mixed method, in which qualitative and qualitative data are used together,was used in the research. In the research, "Helpfulness Attitude Scale" developed by Aktepe (2010), "Student Recognition Form" and "Student Interview Form" developed by their researcher were used as data collection tools. The study group of the research consists of the 4th grade students of a village school in Rize in the 2019-2020 academic year. As a result of the research, it was determined that the case study method positively affected the attitudes of 4th grade students towards the value of helpfulness. The case study method embodies value education; it was seen that the students offered solutions to the problems in the case studies with a heplful attitude. It was observed that there was a significant difference in favor of the post-test in the helpfulness attitude scale scores of the students. Key words: Value Education, Benevolence, Case Study Method
