The idea of the West Asian Union as part of the search for a regional solution in the Middle East

The geography of the Middle East has shown the characteristic of being a critical region in every period in the historical process. In this geography, which has been home to many civilizations, Western states have turned their direction to the Middle East, especially in the context of the search for new raw materials and Sunday that emerged after the Industrial Revolution in Europe. The Middle East has always had an indispensable importance for developed economies with its strategic location and energyresources. When the Ottoman Empire collapsed in theregion, states governed by mandate regimes were established with thesupport of the west in the areas under its sovereignty. Although these states gained their in dependence after the Second World War, they could not get rid of the grip of the western states and remained under the influence. In this process, as in all over the world, the countries of the region have tried to establish regional alliances. Although many organizations have been established in this context in the region, success has not been achieved at the point of becoming an international power. The Greater Middle East Project, which was followed by the USA in theregion, especially in the post-Cold War period, caused internal conflicts on ethnic and sectarian basis and an unstable environment in the states in the region. Today, many states in the region have come to the brink of disintegration due to these conflicts. As a Middle Eastern country, Turkey is in the middle of these developments and is one of the most affected countries in the war environment. This study investigates the western imperialism in the Middle East with its historical dimensions and examines the regional alliances established in this geography. In addition, it evaluates the West Asian Union Thought, which was presented to remove the influence of the western imperialist states in the region and to end the instability due to the war environment, within th escope of non-Western solution searches, and examines whether it offers an alternative option.
