The effect of HİGH-intensity interval training on basic motor features in moderately active young men

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of high-intensity interval training program applied for 8 weeks on selected motoric features in moderately active young men. In this direction, 25 male athletes voluntarily participated in the study, 13 of them in the experimental group and 12 of them in the control group, between the ages of 18-21, who regularly train 6 days a week. 13 athletes in the experimental group, in addition to the normal training program, which they included 6 days a week for 8 weeks, 20 seconds according to the Tabata protocol. work 10 sec. performed an 8-interval series consisting of rest-based calisthenic and plyometric resistance exercises 3 days a week. The control group, on the other hand, did not participate in any physical training other than the normal training program, which they included 6 days a week for 8 weeks. Flexibility, anaerobic power, aerobic endurance, speed and agility measurements of the participants were carried out in the form of pre-test and post-test at 8-week intervals. SPSS (ver. 22) package program and Jamovi (ver. 1.8.0) package program were used for the analysis of the research data, and Excel (Microsoft Company Ver. 16.0) package program was used to create the effect size forest graph. In all analyzes applied, statistical significance level was accepted as p<0.05 and analyzes were performed with 95% confidence interval. As a result, in group comparisons VO2 Max was 30 m. Statistically significant improvements were observed in both groups in sprint, flexibility, agility, and vertical jump parameters. Statistically significant improvements were observed in body weight, peak power and average power parameters only in the experimental group. In the comparisons between the groups, statistically significant differences were observed in favor of the experimental group in VO2 Max and agility performance parameters, and no statistically significant difference was found in other parameters.
