ANALYSIS OF THE LIVING ROOM INTERIORS OF HOUSES BELONGTO MIDDLE SOCIE-ECONOMIC STATUS (SES)(M. Sc. Thesis)Serhat ARSLANGAZ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYDecember 2006ABSTRACTThe living room, occupying the largest place in the house, is a co-operative lifearea where the household do lots of actions such as sitting, resting, having aguest, chatting, watching TV and listening to music. Nowadays, due to the fewscientific research done it that area it is not clearly identified that to what extentthe houses, which area built to meet the increasing need for housing parallel tothe rapid growth of population, meet the desires and needs of the users. The aimof this study is to determine the effect of inner design and architecture featuresof the main living areas of a mid-quality house on the contentment level of theusers. For that purpose a detailed questionnaire about their living room hasbeen given to the household of forty mid-quality house owners in the centre ofAksaray and 1 / 40-scaled settlement plans of those living rooms have beendrawn and their photos have been taken to determine the characteristics ofthose places.
