Views of secondary education visual arts teachers on Education Information Network (EBA): The case of Diyarbakır province

The visual arts course generally aims to develop creative, critical, free and original thinking in individuals. It is important to what extent these goals are met in the visual arts course through EBA, a digital education platform created with the new contemporary methods. As it is known, the visual arts course is not given enough importance in education policy and society. Depending on the results of this understanding, the main purpose of this research is to examine the adequacy of the course material archive, Visual Arts teachers' level of use of EBA, and their perceptions, opinions and solution proposals towards EBA. In the research, convergent design was used from mixed methods in which descriptive method (screening method) from quantitative research methods and basic qualitative research models are used together from qualitative research methods were used. The study group consists of visual arts teachers working in secondary education institutions in Diyarbakır province in the 2020-2021 school year. In the quantitative part of the study, 108 visual arts teachers were selected by random sampling method and the data collection tool was applied. SPSS program was used in the analysis of the obtained data. In the qualitative dimension of the research, 69 teachers were selected by random sampling method. Semi-structured interview technique was used as data collection tool. Qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis. In the comparison of the quantitative data obtained as a result of the analysis, the t-test for gender and place of duty variable, the Kruskal-Wallis H-Test for the variables of seniority and class size, and the Mann-Whitney U-Test for the variables of graduate education status and in-service training status have been used. According to the results of the research, the teachers stated that they occasionally exchanged information with their colleagues, encountered connection problems in accessing EBA, there was a lack of infrastructure and hardware, there was a lack of technological tools and the content was not rich. Considering the results of the research, it is recommended that teachers be given additional service points or rewarded with a monthly salary, to investigate the current situation of problems such as lack of technological tools, infrastructure and hardware, a commission formed by illustrators, graphic designers and visual arts teachers should examine and enrich the visual arts course content in order to make the active use of the EBA platform attractive.
