Analysis of peer conflict of secondary school students

Abstract (EN)
Individual differences increasing with developments and improvements in every field of social life bring about conflicts as well. This research was conducted to analyze peer conflict in secondary school students.The sample of the study is comprised of 1743 students attending the first grade at high school in the 2011-2012 Educational Year. The analysis of the data has been made through SPSS 16.0 statistical package software. It is seen that 53,6% of the students are 15, 58,7 of them are male, 19,7% of their mothers and 6,9% of their fathers are illiterate, 89,7% of their parents are alive and together, 34,9% of them have 5-6 siblings, 37,7% of their parents are authoritarian and 48,8% of their families have equal income and expenditures.It was expressed that 47,7% of the students have somebody substance addicted in their families, that 37,7 of their fathers are substance addicted, that 80,2% of them haven?t been exposed to violence in their families, that 35,4% of them share their problems with their families, that 67,6% of them have parents who understand and pay attention to them, that 81,8 % of their parents do not allow aggressive behaviors, that 19% of them use sharp objects, that 14,3% of them are substance addicted and 24,7 of them are thinking of committing suicide.It was also mentioned that 17,2% of them believed in physical force to overcome problems, 38,7% of them occasionally have temper tantrum. Then, 47% of them stated that there are bullies at their school and 10,7% of them join bullies. 7,3% of them thought that it is beneficial to be a member of the bullies? groups. 11,8% of them expressed that they first consult their teachers whenever there is a problem. 51,6% of them said that violence at school is widespread. 61,6 % of them mentioned the presence of substance addicts at school, and 46,7 % of them say that the substance used at school is cigarette. Next, 47,9% of them expressed that the most widespread violence is oral and 21,5% of them stated that upper grades commit grades to lower grades. Finally, 36,3% of them expressed that peer conflict was more common among male students.Key Words: Peer conflict, Adolescence, Adolescence problems, Personal conflicts
