Reasons and areas of computer and internet usage among the high school students

REASONS AND AREAS OF COMPUTER AND INTERNET USAGE AMONG THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTSWith the rapid advancement of technology in the developing world use computers and the Internet has become one of the indispensable requirements of the life. Computers and the Internet increasingly the primary communication tool for high school students also can bring about the occurrence of some problems with the arrival of the state. Although it is known that there are many positive examples in the use of the computer and internet, many negative examples are also available. Therefore, it becomes necessary to investigate areas of computer and internet usage.The aim of this research is to investigate the area of computer and internet usage among the high school students and to prevent of these problem that will come out in their lifes of these young people in the social and academic area in the future and also to make teacher and family understand the source of the problem and contribute to take necessary precautions.It was studied among the students who are in the province of Kahramanmaş Elbistan?s High School and who are graduated from only high school and who are preparing for university exam. According to participant school, 390 students are from public high school and 270 student are from Anatolian high school and 36 students are from private school. According to class, 9.class are 34, 10.class are 38, 11.class are 60, 12.class are 304 and graduated student are 260, according to gender, 360 students are male, 327 are female. According to section 287students are from quantiative section, 307 students are from equally-weighted section and 104 students are from verbal section. 5 Likert scale, the 30-item questionnare deveploped by the researcher was used and factor analysis was done. It was accepted that as a result of factor analysis allows evaluation of a scak consisting of three factors.In the research, the ways of high school students who benefit from the computer were investigated. Anatolian High School students use computer more than private and public school students to do their homework. It wasn?t found meaningful difference between public and private school students. 9.class students use competer the most and the graduated students use the least. Quantiative section students benefit from computer more than equally-weighted section students and equally-weighted section students benefit fromcomputer more than verbal section students.
