Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the perception of environmental atmosphere of 9th grade students at high schools differentiate with regard to the variables analysed; their academic achievement, school types they receive education, gender, mother?s education level and father?s education level, and to explore if there is a meaningful relationship between their academic achievement and the classroom atmosphere they perceive.9th grade students at different high schools in Bayrakli district of the city of Izmir, constitutes the population of this study. This study was performed with the 9th grade students, 473 in total, selected randomly via approach. In this research, `Classroom Atmosphere Scale? developed by the researcher was used. Besides, a `Personal Data Form? comprising of the questions for the students? schools, gender, mother-father education and general success level was prepared and performed by the researcher.The results of the analyses in the study indicated that there is a significant relationship between the student perception of classroom atmosphere and their academic achievement level.Key Words: Classroom Athmosphere, academic achievement, students opinions.
