Theresults of the questionnaire were analyzed according to the SPSS statistical packageprogram in the computer environment. The frequency, percentage, mean about thedata; and standard deviation were examined. In order to determine the effect of caricatures on teaching writtenexpression, control and experimental groups, both comprised of twenty participants, were formed and their grade average was tried to be equalized. The control groupwere given the subject ?What do you think about the effects of television on thepeople?? for writing and this subject wasn?t supported with any materials. In thisgroup, teaching written expression was applied according to the classic methodwhich was generally used. In the experimental group, this subject was supported withvisual aids; various caricatures about the subject were presented to the studentsduring teaching written expression; and the students were asked to interpret thesecaricatures in their writings.A twenty item- evaluation form was improved to evaluate the studies of thecontrol and experimental groups. The essay papers of the groups were evaluated byfive teachers in accordance with that evaluation form; and the teachers? evaluationswere transmittted to the computer. Whether there had been a meaningful differencebetween the groups or not have been examined by t-test with the help of the SPSSpackage program during the anaysis of the data, and the gained statistical data werepresented in the shape of tables. The control and experimental groups show significant differences in termsof the title, expression order, expression affluence, language-spelling-punctuationand message in accordance with the effect of caricatures on teaching writtenexpression.
