The examination of maritime education according to STCW 78 convention in high school

All levels of education institutions operating in our country under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, but due to the international regulations, maritime education has some exceptions. Maritime training institutions in the world have to be minimum standards determined by the International Maritime Organization announced to the member states with model course programs. In our country maritime education is under control of the supervision of the Undersecretariat for Maritime Affairs set by model courses and it ensures coordination with The Council of Higher Education and The Ministry of National Education. In those controls health conditions for students adopted the naval programs, education curriculum, teaching tools, educators qualifications and other matters are examined. In this thesis education curriculum, the qualification status of the maritime teachers and the locations of maritime vocational schools were examined and maritime education in compliance with the STCW 78 Convention was discussed.
