Use of internet for the purpose of education in high schools: Tekirdağ province study

The aim of this study is to determine the nature of internet use for the purpose of education in high schools.Descriptive method- survey- used in this study. Population of the study consists of 400 students who attend high schools in central district of Tekirdag province. Main outcome achieved from analysis is that internet provides various contributions to student?s education.Use of internet for education diversely analysed in this study. Common two opinions of students towards internet are internet has no effect or has positive effects on their success at school. Those who think internet has positive effect on their success at school determined to have more positive opinion on internet?s contributions to teaching and learning. It is established that most of the students uses internet to do homework and chat. The ones who do their homework with help of internet also use and benefit from it more in school than others. The study shows internet makes contributions to students? cultural improvement and social communication which are the parts of personal development. It is determined that students have positive opinions information on internet and also they think that they are adequate to find the needed information.Key words: Internet, Internet use for education, Secondary education
