Comparison of the attitudes in Turkish language and literature lessons of the students in secondary education taking classical and IB programs

In todays circumstances the classical Turkish Language and Literature subject can not improve students? literature abilities. It has been observed that the students could not understand what they have read and could not interpret well enough the texts when they graduate from the high schools. In this study the researcher aimed to compare the classical Turkish Language and Literature curricular program that has been practiced in the government schools and the IB program which has been practiced in some schools, all over the world. This comparison will show, what shall be done to improve the students? verbal and written abilities. To see how efficient these programs are, a questionnaire has been answered by the students. Questionnaires results were analysed by the Independent Sample T-test. The results showed how efficient were the students in their verbal and written works. %37 percent of the students who have been studying IB A1 Turkish program stated that they were able to do verbal Works at a very good level. The students? ratio who have not been studying IB Turkish A1 program was just %14 percent. When their written abilities were compared, students studying the IB Turkish A1 program who has ticked the very good level was %38 but despite this, only %7 percent students who have not been studying the IB Turkish A1 program ticked the very good level.
