Abstract (EN)
Aim: To examine physical activity, digital game addiction and quality of life among secondary school students according to some variables and to investigate the predictive effects of physical activity and digital game addiction on quality of life. Material and Method: The research was conducted with 270 female and 297 male students studying in the 5th, 6th and 7th grades. The “Physical Activity Questionnaire”, “Digital Game Addiction Scale for Children” and “Quality of Life Scale for Children Child Form (8–12 years old)” were used as data collection tools. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson correlation and hierarchical regression analyses were used in the analysis of the data. Results: Significant differences were observed in the quality of life of students according to the time they played digital games. Additionally, it was determined that quality of life differed significantly according to students' physical activity levels and digital game addiction levels. Positive and weakly significant relationships were found between students' quality of life and physical activity levels, and negative and weakly significant relationships were found with digital game addiction. Conclusion: The increase in students' physical activity level affects their quality of life positively, while the increase in digital game addiction affects them negatively. Physical activity and digital game addiction are significant predictors of quality of life, explaining 13.2% of quality of life. Physical activity is a protective factor that reduces the negative effects of digital game addiction on quality of life.
