The relationship between health attitude behaviors with nutrition self-efficacy and parenting attitudes in secondary school students

This research was handled in a descriptive and relationship-seeking type in order to determine the relationship between health attitude behaviors, nutritional self-efficacy and parental attitudes in secondary school students. The population of the research consists of 13931 students studying in secondary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the city center of Duzce, and the sample consists of 1306 students who agreed to participate in the research. The data of the study were collected using the Personal Information Form, Parental Attitude Scale (PAS), Health Attitude Scale for Students (HASS), Child Nutrition Self-efficacy Scale (CNSS) and Health Perception Form. The data obtained from the research were evaluated using number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, one-way analysis of variance (One Way ANOVA), Levene, multiple comparison (Bonferroni or Tamhane's T2), pearson correlation tests and regression analysis. The participants' mean HASS scores were found to be 61.99±11.44, CNSS scores were 33.42±6.92 and PAS mean scores were 51.54±10.53. A statistically significant and positive correlation was found between the students participating in the study, between the PAS and the HASS score averages (p<0,05). A statistically significant effect of the mean score of HASS on the PAS mean score was found (p<0,05). Accordingly, it was determined that a one-unit increase in PAS caused an increase of 0.21 units in the mean of the HASS score. More studies are needed on this topic to help improve the relationship between health attitude, nutritional self-efficacy, and parental attitude in secondary school students.
