Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research is to analyze the attitudes of secondary school students towards physical education with sports lessons and physical activity. For this purpose, secondary school students' attitudes towards physical education with sports lessons and physical activity were examined in terms of gender, grade level, self-efficacy in physical education lesson, sports, sports license and weekly exercise frequency, and parents' education and sports status variables. A total of 1020 students, 471 girls and 549 boys, studying at 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade of the secondary schools in the center of Şahinbey district of Gaziantep in the 2021-2022 academic year, voluntarily participated in the study. The data of the study were collected using the personal information form and the Attitude towards Physical Education Lesson scale developed by Güllü and Güçlü (2009) and the Attitude towards Physical activity scale (FAYTÖ) developed by Yıldızer, Bilgin, Korur, Yüksel and Demirhan (2019). In the analysis of the data obtained, descriptive statistics, independent groups t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), pearson correlation analysis and LSD Post Hoc. tests have been used. According to the results of the analysis, there is a statistically significant difference between the students' gender, grade level, self-efficacy in physical education lesson, doing sports, sports license and weekly exercise frequency, and physical activity. (p<0.01). In addition, there was a significant positive correlation between the physical education lesson attitude scale and all sub-dimensions of the attitude scale towards physical activity (p<0.01). According to these results, male students are more than female students; 5th and 6th grade students, 7th and 8th grade students; from students who do sports and those who do not; students who consider themselves sufficient in physical education and sports lessons are among the students who consider themselves inadequate; Students who do sports with a license have a higher level of physical education lessons and attitudes towards physical activity than those who do sports without license. In addition, students with a weekly exercise frequency of 3 days and above have higher attitudes towards physical education lesson and physical activity than students whose weekly exercise frequency is 2 days or less. As the education levels of the parents of the students increase, the attitudes of the students towards the physical education lesson and physical activity also increase. Finally, the attitudes of the students whose parents do sports regularly towards physical education lesson and physical activity are higher than the students whose parents do not do sports. According to the results of the study, it can be said that ensuring the participation of both students and their parents in sports activities can enable secondary school students to develop positive attitudes towards physical education lessons and physical activity.
