Abstract (EN)

Culture is a set of indicators belonging to a nation and language is one of the most important cultural indicators. Today, through linguistic analysis, important judgments can be made about cultural phenomena in language. Cultural linguistics emerged as a young science branch of linguistics at the end of the 20th century and is a discipline that examines cultural phenomena in language. In addition, cultural linguistics aims to reach the culture of a nation through language units. Considering that Turkish lessons and the materials used in these lessons have an important place in mother tongue and culture teaching, it is important to reveal the rate and way of benefiting from culture in these materials. The research consists of two stages: The document analysis method was used in the first stage, which was realized by adopting a descriptive approach in the scanning model; 128 reading texts in 5, 6, 7 and 8th grade Turkish textbooks were examined in terms of cultural linguistics. At this stage, firstly, vocabulary was determined for each textbook. Then, proper names in the textbooks were classified in terms of connotative names, events and text facts; ıdioms, proverbs, quotations, spoken language elements, exclamation and address, foreign words and Anatolian dialects were determined and percentages and coefficients of these words and word groups in total and different words were determined. The findings were analyzed in terms of textbooks, grade levels and themes, and evaluated in terms of Turkish teaching and cultural linguistics. In the second stage of the study, the opinions of teachers about the adequacy of the texts in Turkish textbooks in terms of cultural linguistics facts were tried to be determined. In the study conducted with a qualitative phenomenological (phenomenological) design, the opinions of 15 Turkish teachers working in the province of Şanlıurfa were consulted by interview method. In order to collect data, the interviews carried out using the semi-structured interview method were recorded with a voice recording device and converted to a written format in computer environment. The data obtained from the interviews were transferred to the MAXQDA 20 qualitative data analysis program and analyzed by content analysis method, and thus, the Turkish teachers' opinions on the adequacy of the texts in terms of cultural linguistics were tried to be determined. As a result of the analysis of both textbooks and teachers' opinions, the texts were found to be rich and sufficient in terms of connotation names, idioms, foreign words, spoken language elements, exclamations and appeals; ıt was determined that it is not rich in terms of text and events, proverbs, quotations and Anatolian dialects and can be increased. The research is important in terms of determining a framework about the cultural quality of the texts in Turkish textbooks, which have an important place in language and culture teaching.
