Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the transformational leadership of principals working in secondary schools and organizational attractiveness in terms of teachers' perceptions and to determine whether there is a significant relationship between them. In addition, it was determined whether there were significant differences in teachers' perceptions according to their gender, marital status, age, professional seniority, education level and branch variable. The population of the research consists of a total of 121 public secondary schools in İzmir province Karşıyaka, Konak, Bornova, Gaziemir and Buca districts and 4495 teachers working in these schools in the 2020-2021 academic year. By reaching 389 teachers, they were provided to answer the measurement tool. In this study, convenient/accidental sampling method was used. Two scales were used in the study, namely the "Transformational Leadership Scale" consisting of 20 items and the "Organizational Attractiveness Scale" consisting of 46 items. The scales used in the application, the google form questionnaires, were delivered to the teachers electronically. In the transformational leadership scale, it is observed that teachers' perceptions of their principals' transformational leadership are positive. A difference was determined in the perceptions of teachers according to their seniority in the profession. It has been determined that the teachers with 21 years or more seniority in the profession find the transformational leadership characteristics of their principals more sufficient than the teachers with 6-10 years and 11-15 years of seniority. It was determined that the teachers' views on the transformational leadership characteristics of their principals did not differ according to other variables (gender, marital status, age, education level and branch). In the Organizational Attractiveness Scale, it was determined that teachers' opinions about the organizational attractiveness of their schools were positive. It is seen that teachers' views on the organizational attractiveness of their schools differ in terms of gender and educational status variables. It was determined that female teachers found their schools more attractive than male teachers. It has been determined that teachers with undergraduate education find their schools more attractive than teachers with graduate education. There is no difference in the opinions of teachers about the organizational attractiveness of their schools in terms of other variables (martial status, professional seniority, age and branch). The Pearson Product Moments Correlation Coefficient was used to determine the relationship between the transformational leadership of secondary school principals and the organizational attractiveness of schools. A low (0,137) positive correlation was found between transformational leadership and organizational attractiveness. In other words, as the transformational leadership of the principals in the secondary schools where the scale is applied increases, the organizational attractiveness of the schools increases at the specified rate. Keywords: Leadership, transformational leadership, attractiveness, organizational attractiveness
