Özet (EN)

Aim: In our study, it was aimed to perform root canal treatment of the second primary molar with congenitally missing second premolar with calcium silicate based OrthoMTA and to evaluate its clinical-radiological success. Material and Method: 13 patients with pulp infection and congenitally missing second premolar teeth, who applied to Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Pedodontics between 2018 and 2019, were included in the study. Root canal filling was performed with OrthoMTA in these teeth that were not suitable for traditional root canal treatment. The clinical and radiological success of the treatment was evaluated at the 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th months after the treatment. Fractal analysis was used to detect changes in the trabecular bone after canal treatment. The repeated variance analysis test and two independent t tests were used in the evaluation of the results, and the level of significance was considered to be p <0.05. Results: During the 12-month follow-up after treatment in the primary molar teeth with congenitally missing teeth, the clinical and radiological success rates were determined to be 100% and 92.3%, respectively. A statistically significant difference was found between the average fractal dimension values before the treatment and the average fractal dimension values in the 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th months after the treatment (p<0.001). Conclusion: In the pulpectomy treatment of the primary molar teeth with congenitally missing permanent teeth, OrthoMTA was found to be successful as a root canal filling material. We consider that it may be an alternative to traditional root canal treatment performed with gutta percha and sealer to prevent harmful effects on dental arch in the extraction of primary teeth.
