Özet (EN)

This study investigates the reflection of women?s clothing after Ottoman Westernization Movements. The first chapter contains a detailed research that deals with women?s daily clothes in reference to the traditions of pre-Tanzimat clothing. In the next sections; changes in clothing respectively examined in 18 th century Westernization Movement, Tanzimat, I. and II. Constitutionalism, in terms of emerging women movements and media effects. In addition to that women?s magazines have changed all areas of the lives of individuals and supportive ideas of the westernization process influenced people through the media. The changes in the period of Occupation and Armistice period is also examined in detail. With the beginning of the process of Westernization; social life, education, perception, of entertainment and social events are influencedin term of clothing, which is analyzed with comparisons. The limited access of visual and written sources of pre-westernization period, is the major problem this study.
