Pension of the ulama, foundation and activities of the ulama pension fund

Like many other fields, Ottoman Empire realised different applications about the social security and pension systems in the clasiccal period and Tanzimat period. In the clasiccal period social security and pension system were handled by means of organizations such fund trades, barley field, wagf. But in course of time, due to unability to supply the needs of these applications necessitated new regulations. Therefore, in the Tanzimat period concerning these issues occidental-style procedures were adopted.In the Tanzimat period, in relation to social security of ulama, The Ulama Orphans and Widows Aid Fund was first opened.In 1894, the name of this fund was changed as Ulama Pension Fund and continued existence under this name untill 1911.In this study, firstly, in clasiccal period social security and pension system of ulama was resulted. Later, the foundation The Ulama Orphans and Widows Aid Fund and Ulama Pension Fund, management staff, finansical conditions was handled.
