Abstract (EN)
In this study, translated works made in the Ottoman Empire were analyzed in the context of cultural power. The analyzes cover the period from the establishment of the Ottoman Empire to 1730, including the Anatolian Beyliks. It has been focused on the translation works created by special orders of a patron. As a result of the comprehensive classification, the works are divided into titles as; religious, social, positive, natural and language and literature sciences. Ordered translation works under these titles were graphed and the obtained numerical data were interpreted. While the evaluation of the first four science groups in the context of cultural power constitutes the second part of the thesis, language and literature translations are evaluated in the following part; by titled according to the sultans until Ahmed III. Translations made by the orders of grand vizier; sheikh-ul-islam, beylerbeyi, pasha and aghas from different ranks were also included in the evaluations. Thus, it is aimed to reveal how the translation activities were instrumentalized by the palace and the power; how and by whom the translation mechanism was carried out in order to ensure continuity in political and cultural policies, in the formation of the cultural infrastructure of the Ottoman Empire.
