The alteration fact in men's wearing in ottoman's modernization period [ 1860 - 1925 ]

Modernization, as an intellectual production shows its existence as a symbolic worth in concrete way on dressing. For centuries, garment has been continued its existence as the most concrete demostration in all relations, harmonies and conflicts of the traditional and modern. We know that the evolution of the concepts wearing and clothing gained its todays real meaning with the word of fashion in the learning period of dressing of the people and society. In Ottoman modernization period , the changings of the men's wearing depend on directly to the arrangements in the military system. In the historical meaning, the first step of development and alteration in men's wearing has been stepped with "Elbise Nizam-namesi" which was published by Sultan II. Mahmut on 11 April 1829. In our study which had searched "The Modernization In The Men?s Wearing From Ottoman To Republic" I evaluated the written sources which has been never researched and photagraps as documents which showed the witness of that period. The first publications, books and our first educated tailors in the Ottoman Empire had been introduced in this study.I analyzed and illustrated from redingot to bonjour jacket, topcoat, frog coat and suit using as a men?s wearing parts in Europe and Ottoman.In this study I also introduced İstanbulin modal, which was a special overgarment for us, used as a fashion.In addition, I have made an application study by using Sultan II. Abdulhamit's photagraph with İstanbulin suit which had been taken in 1870. At the end of XIXth Century, suits came as a fact of men's wearing and for giving an example I have made three part suit application by using a phograph of our great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. I was the close witness of the quarrel of our modernization period over 100 years while I was analyzing "The Alteration Fact In Men's Wearing In Ottoman's Modernization Period".
