Özet (EN)

The change and transformation movement that started with Tanzimat in the Ottoman State caused some changes in the traditional social structure. While changing consumption habits with Tanzimat paved the way for the image of the West in the Ottoman Empire, this also had an impact on women and their body. The increasing penetration of modern state order in social life compared to the past has paved the way for the strengthening of a state building with a focus on control and control. The fact that the control observed in the pre-modern Ottoman state order had an active activity on the changing female appearance since that date shows that a conservative modernization was preferred in this period. The aim of the innovations in law, education, clothing, land, marriage, etc. for the liberation of women in the 19th century is to enrich the position of women in the family and to strengthen the 'good mother' and 'good wife' profile. While the urban texture that changed with modernization caused changes on the country's population, it was not only among the issues controlled by the female state in this period.A central state will now pursue more authoritative and control-oriented policies in a changing and developing social order. Keywords: Modernization, Ottoman Woman, Control, Tanzimat, Ottoman modernization, Women's liberation
