Özet (EN)

Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which is genetically the most common cause of osteoporosis, is a connective tissue disease accompanied by deformity and fractures in long bones. Especially the lack of Type 1 collagen is the main defect. Treatment and prevention of orthopedically deformity and fractures in the extremities. In this study, 15 patients with a diagnosis of Osteogenesis Imperfecta who were admitted to the Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic of Fırat University Medical Faculty Hospital between 2015 and 2021 and were treated surgically were retrospectively analyzed. Fifteen patients with a diagnosis of Osteogenesis Imperfecta were analyzed. 7 of the patients were boys and 8 of them were girls. A total of 43 lower extremity bones, including femur and tibia bones, were surgically treated with telescopic nails. The patients were followed for an average of 4 years. The mean was 28 months for femoral revision and 35 months for tibia revision. The revision rate was 16.6% for femoral surgery. The revision rate for tibia surgery was 7.69%. We believe that the telescopic nail is an effective and safe method, especially in patients with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, as it is easy to use, the infection rate, the amount of bleeding and the complication rate are low when compared to other surgical techniques (c-wire, plaque or non-extensible intramedullary nails). Osteogenesis Imperfecta, telescopic nail method, shish kebab osteotomy, fracture, deformity
