Abstract (EN)

Stress is a concept that is studied on a psychological basis, which is momentously emphasized especially in professional life in recent years and directly affects ones efficiency at work, bilateral relations and quality of life. In addition to a certain amount of stress?s positive effects on ones life, when personal diversities are considered, the increase of stress level may cause psychological and physiological deformation on people. For this reason, the supervisors must know the stress level and the effect it has on employees at a company.In this study, the concept of stress, the various effects of stress on department employees and the causes of stress at the international five-star hotels? human resources departments in Istanbul, have been studied and how the employees reacted to them and their coping with stress strategies have been tried to be defined. As a consequence of the study, it has been established that the most important element which causes stress on hotel?s human resources department is the organizational structure and politics.In addition, the attitudes that come up under stress have emerged as elements which affect general performance and efficiency in a negative way. The result about the methods of coping with stress has been that employees generally prefer physical or spiritual methods to cope with stress.Hotel Human Resources employees? demographic characteristics and the sources of stress, attitudes under stress have brought out substantive differences on coping with stress. The data which was achieved at the end of the study has been compared with the studies in the literature and the comparison has been deduced.Key Words: Hotel Management, Human Resources Department, Stress Management, Istanbul
