The mid term results of anatomic arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using autogeneous harmstring tendon graft

Abstract: Anterior cruciate ligament injuries are one of the most common sports injuries that orthopaedic surgeons frequently deal with the treatment process for a long time because of the ligament has a low potential for self -healing, In this study, we aimed to evaluate the mid-term results anatomic reconstruction of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament using autogenous hamstring tendon grafts in our clinic with the help of current literature. Material and methods: The surgically treated patients in our clinic between January 2013 and June 2016 who had acl rupture were called and invited to hospital by telephone. Patients who had accepted our invitation were informed about the study and received their written approval; the physical examinations and radiographic measuremets of the 64 patients who had included in the study we evaluated. Results: 55 patients were male and 9 patients were female. Average age of patient's was 29,3 ± 8,12 (14-47). Average follow up period was14,47± 7,44 ( 6-36 ) mounth.Average Lysholm score was 40.58 in preoperative evaluation of our patients. Average Lysholm score was 95.3 (68-100) in the last postoperative control examination. According to the Lysholm scoring system; 25 of the patients were in the 'perfect' group; 32 of them in the 'good' group and 7 of them in the 'mild' group; in the last follow up examination. In preoperative period 3 of the patients described as group B, 18 of the patients described as group C, 43 of the patients described as group D; in the postoperative mid term examination; 41 of the patients included in group A, 21 of the patients included in group B, 2 of the patients included in group C according to international knee documentation committee (IKDC) knee ligaments evoluation system. The average score was 14.46 preoperatively and 26.67 postoperatively according to Cincinatti evaluation system. Conclusion: As a result; we think using autogeneous hamstring tendon in anatomic reconstruction of ACL has better results clinically and radiographically. Also, in comparison with other grafts the four strand hamstring autograft is must powerfull and similar to original anterior cruciate ligament and it allows early rehabilitation Key words: Anterior Cruciate Ligament, Autogeneous Harmstring Graft, Anatomic
