Early results of doble-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using hamstring tendon autografts

16 patients who consulted Inönü University Medical DepartmentOrthopeadics and Traumatology Clinic between June 2009 and January 2010 anddiagnoised as ACL rupture were added to our study. Our study was prospective. Allour patients were male. Avarage of our patient?s age was 26.9 (20-47).ACL reconstruction with using hamstring tendons and double-bundletecniques by using femoral hanger was applied to all patients. Aggressiverehabilitation procedure was applied to patients in post-op. Avarage follow-up was7.8 mounth (3-12 mounth).The avarage of Lysholm scores of patients was pre-op 39.6 (11-66) whilepost-op was 86.3 (70-100). The avarage of Tegner activation score before trauma was7.37, after trauma was 4, post-op was 6.43. In the last examination the 13 of thepatients (81.25%) who were applied IKDC scores, were in the group A (excellent)and B (good) while there were 3 patient in group C,there were no patients in group D(bad). IKDC subjective knee form avarage score was 39.4 (20.6-66) in pre-op whileit increased to 76.3 (50-97) in the last examination. While Cincinnati score was 18.18(15-22) in pre-op, it was 27.25 (20-30) in post-op. According to these results avaragedifferences between post trauma (pre-op) and post operative were satisfiying(p=0.0001).In the measurement by using Cybex II there was no power lose more than15% in any patients.As a consequence, when we consider literature datas and the results we havefound ACL reconstruction with using hamstring tendons and double-boundletechnique by using femoral hanger is a tecnique that is useful and in whichsatisfying results can be obtained. We have to see the long term results in order toprove the benefits at techniques which restoring the knee biomechanics and preventdejeneration and also compare with other similiar studies.Key words: ACL reconstruction, double-boundle, hamstring tendon grafts,femoral hanger.
