Examination of the attitudes and burnouts of care personnel working in a private disabled care center towards disabled people in terms of demographic variables

Working in private disabled care centers is a process that creates emotional difficulties and high levels of stress for employees. Therefore, employees need to develop emotional resilience and professional commitment. This study aims to examine the relationships between the demographic characteristics of the care personnel working in special disabled care centers and their attitudes towards the disabled and their burnout levels. The research aims to make a significant contribution to understanding the professional life quality of the care personnel, to create awareness on this issue and to determine the strategies that can be developed. An 8-item form was used in order to determine the demographic characteristics within the scope of the study. In order to measure the attitudes of the care personnel providing care services towards the disabled, the 26-item Attitude Towards Providing Long-Term Care to the Elderly scale developed by Klein (1993), whose Turkish adaptation, validity and reliability study was conducted by Irmak and Artan, will be used. In order to measure the burnout of maintenance personnel, the 22-item 'Maslach Burnout Inventory', developed by Maslach and Jackson and adapted into Turkish by Canan Ergin, will be used. The relevant literature review supports findings from similar studies and explains prominent interactions in this context. The results of the study will reveal the general profile of the care personnel working in special disabled care centers and will provide important insights into how demographic factors affect their attitudes towards the disabled and their burnout levels. These findings can be used to make progress towards developing applicable strategies for disabled care services to be more effective and sustainable.
